Jargon Hosts New Orleans Evening November 14

Marcus Day

By Calie Brummer

On Wednesday, November 14, Jargon will host a special New Orleans themed dining event during regular hours featuring plates by Chef Marcus Day. The exclusive menu is designed around culinary traditions of New Orleans and will feature a variety of dishes in celebration of Louisiana style cooking and the Big Easy spirit. In addition to an array of small and large dishes, guests can choose from specially curated cocktails and desserts. All dining options will be served à la carte.

“I have been wanting to do a themed dinner evening, and thought it would be a great creative opportunity for Chef Day to bring some Louisiana love to Asheville,” says Sean Piper, owner of Jargon restaurant. “When you team up with local musicians, it’s sure to be a memorable night for everyone.”

A live New Orleans style jazz band will entertain guests during the special evening, featuring artists Les Chats Violet (The Purple Cats), Alex Bradley, Lenny Petinelli and Kyle Snuffer, who are also members of Empire Strikes Brass.

Highlights of the menu include trout court bouillon, a fresh green onion sausage charcuterie, shrimp-stuffed mirliton and a bread pudding with rum sauce.

Chef Day’s grandmother, deemed by Day as “a Creole lady who was an amazing cook,” was a strong influence on him growing up and was his inspiration to begin cooking. His dishes are one of a kind and specially crafted for the one-night menu. Jargon serves globally inspired dishes, decadent desserts and craft cocktails in West Asheville. The restaurant hosts live music during weekend brunch.

Jargon is located at 715 Haywood Road in West Asheville. To make reservations for the New Orleans themed dinner, visit JargonRestaurant.com or call 828-785-1761.
