Owner Holt Isom works with a grower to supply shoppers with ferns and year-round blooming flowers, and strives to offer a more unique selection of greenery than what other stores commonly sell. Sunny front windows provide the perfect spot for a wide variety of plants to thrive. “We also offer Italian pottery and Chinese garden stools,” Isom says. “Most of our plants are not found in other stores throughout the year, and they are always fresh. We enjoy putting together plants and pots for special occasions for our customers.”
Visitors to H. H. Walker and Company, in business for nine years, can enjoy a well-rounded shopping experience with items and gifts for the home but pleasurable treats for the individual as well. “Over the years, we have added ladies’ clothing and jewelry,” Isom says. “We also offer a wide selection of chocolates which have become quite popular.” On Thursday, April 9, the store will hold its semi-annual fashion show from 5–7 p.m., featuring stylish clothing and accessories available for purchase.
The store’s ambience is heightened by a tastefully curated selection of timeless antiques such as furniture, lamps, dinnerware, crystal and paintings. Isom makes regular trips to Europe to keep the store filled with beautiful, one-of-a-kind items for every home.
